Air pollution was at a devastatingly dangerous level and was even impacted some cities and towns south of Sonoma County that were not threatened by the Northern California wildfires. 11,000 thousand fire fighters risked their lives to save our homes and got as little as 7 hours of sleep for every 86 hours of fighting against the flames. Some units even came from as far as Utah. I personally want to thank our amazing Fire Department. Y'all are my heroes. Topics in this post:

On April 1st, 2017, a disturbing news report was released by a Russian newspaper regarding queer men being hauled away to unofficial detention camps in Argun, Russia, a town close in proximity to the Chechen capital (Sewell Chan–NY Times). The provincial leader and government leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, is accused of being in charge of theses attacks on the LGBTQ+ community. His authorities are enforcing the inhumane searches, captures, and cruel and unusual punishment of queer men in Chechen.
The hashtag "ProtectTransKids" is becoming the #1 most tweeted about subject on Twitter and has it is no surprise considering the gigantic step taken away from civil rights improvements made by the federal government. On Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017, President Trump officially rescind the continuation of protections established for transgender students previously initiated by the Obama Administration back in 2016. Originally, Title IX, a law established protecting a student's ability to learn without oppression or prejudice due to gender or sex, was going to be revised in order to have schools recognize transgender students as being protected by the title. And although in August of 2016 a federal judge halted the proceeding of the case to expand the civil liberties to transgender students (Eckholm/Blinder - The NYT), come some time in the near future, this will no longer be a "federal issue."
On Friday February 10th, 2017, the Department of Justice (DOJ) decided to take a break from the ongoing efforts to support transgender rights and push protection from discriminatory employment or prejudicial treatment for the transgender community. While the Obama Administration has worked diligently to pursue equal treatment and promote comfortability for transgender students and people in this nation, the LGBTQ+ community has every reason to feel as if their rights are threatened. It has been two days since Senator Jeff Sessions, Trump's choice for Attorney General of the DOJ, has taken office and it is already clear that he is an impending risk to the LGBTQ+ community.
The unjust, prejudicial, arrogant, and naive policies enforced by the executive branch of the United States government this past week are calling thousands of protesters to the streets and airports all around America. Although Donald Trump's inauguration was reason enough for protesters to engage in nation wide protests, one of Trump's most recent executive orders has the nation crying in anger and disappointment.
